Hydroelectric RC Car
This was for ASME's 2022 Student Design Competition: "H2Go". You can find the competition description & rules here. Essentially, the objective of the competition was to deliver as much water as possible in 15 minutes using a vehicle powered solely on the potential energy of water placed inside it. It was a very challenging competition that required 4 complete project designs/revisions from scratch, hundreds of CAD models, and over 20 pages of hand calculations to optimize efficiency including fluid mechanics, machine design, structural analysis, calculus, circuit design, python, 3D printing, and a lot of hands-on prototyping. In total, there was more than $700 devoted to the project and well over 200 man hours. The final product was a "car" remotely controlled via bluetooth on an app. The car had 4 omnidirectional wheels, a 25 gallon repurposed waste bin, and a large custom 3D-printed turbine capable of maintaining a 2 gal/s flow rate!
